Inflight Warning Systems, Inc was formed in June of 2001 specifically for the purpose of developing a line of bearing vibration monitors for use in commercial aircraft. Flight diversions resulting from smoke in cockpit and smoke in the cabin caused by air circulation fan bearing failure has become a significant factor in flight operations. The principles of Inflight Warning Systems were approached, prior to formation of the company, by a major US airline looking for a solution to their bearing source smoke diversion events.
The founders of IWS, Steve Ehrickand Gary Butts have a long history of aircraft product supply and vibration detection experience. Steve (IWS President) is the former president and co-founder of Acurex Corporation. Well known in the aircraft industry for its quality refrigeration products, Acurex revolutionized aircraft refrigeration by bringing state of the art products to the industry with a major emphasis on customer service and impeccable product support. Gary (IWS vice-president, engineering) is also the president and co-founder of Labworks Inc. Labworks has manufactured a complete line of vibration test equipment for space, automotive and aifcraft testing and evaluation since 1984.
Joseph Barclay (Director of Programs) joined IWS in the spring of 2006, bringing with him over 20 years of Aviation experience. Joseph is not new to the IWS product, as he was assigned by a major US Carrier to work with IWS in 2001 for the development of the IWS concept over a four year period. Joseph started his career in the United States Air Force and continued his career working in Aircraft Maintenance, Component Quality & Reliability, Supplier Management, and was a Program Manager for oversee MD88 MRO overhaul services. Joseph is a certified 6 sigma Black Belt.
Located in Yorba Linda, California, Inflight Warning Systems designs and manufafturers their monitors using a select team of qualified personnel dedicated to bringing the highest quality equipment possible to the industry. With full FAA Manufacturer Certification as well as holding FAA repair Station Certification, IWS is fully prepared to deliver its solution to the smoke in cabin and smoke in cockpit problems while allowing fans to operate to their longest life potential.
